In Memoriam - H. E. Whippo

Harold was born September 12, 1925 in Visalia, California and grew up in Harbor City, California.

He joined the Navy in 1942 and served as a Corpsman with the Fleet Marines Forces in the South Pacific during World War 2. After the War he transferred to the Coast Guard and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1964.

He worked for the Department of Labor & Industries (Safety and Health Div.) until his retirement in the late 1980's.

Just before Christmas 1945, he met his future wife, Peggy, in Seattle. They were married in January 1946. They raised a daughter and three sons. Harold was always active in all his children's activities, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, DeMolay and Jobs Daughters. He also loved to hunt, fish and play golf with his sons and grandchildren.

Harold was a Past Master of his Masonic Lodge, Eureka #20 in Seattle and was active for many years in his local community. He belonged to R.O.M.E.O.s', which met at the Glen Eagle Country Club in Arlington, where he resided for the last ten years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Lynn and is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Bruce (Josephine), Scott (Olga) and Vance; sister, Dorothy Fournier of Torrance, California; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or the Arlington Fire Department Medics.
